Golf clinics tee off in Ekurhuleni and surrounding areas for township youth

Piet is conducting talent identification clinics in four regions across Gauteng, reaching 200 youngsters between the ages of 12 and 15.

BSI’s Coach Piet De Wet is spearheading a grassroots golf development initiative in partnership with the Sunshine Tour and the Gauteng provincial government.

According to BSI marketer Roger King, the programme is designed to introduce golf to young people from disadvantaged communities who would not typically have access to the sport.

“Piet is conducting talent identification clinics in four regions across Gauteng, reaching 200 youngsters between the ages of 12 and 15.

From this group, 40 are selected to attend a five-day training camp in their area,” said King.

“These promising players will then have the opportunity to join the South African Golf Development Board programme operating in their local region.”
