Easter road safety campaign rolled out in Ekurhuleni
Motorists are urged to exercise caution, obey traffic laws, and remain patient on the roads, especially during peak travel periods.
EMPD officers, in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, officially launched the National Easter Road Safety Campaign recently.
The event, which took place along the N3 between the Leondale on- and off-ramps on March 20, was led by the MMC for Community Safety, Mzayifani Ngwenya, alongside EMPD senior management.
“The initiative aims to promote road safety awareness and reduce road fatalities and crashes during the busy Easter holiday period,” said EMPD spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

“As part of the campaign, officers will be deployed across various regions within Ekurhuleni to monitor traffic flow, enforce road traffic laws and ensure compliance.
The focus will be on reckless and negligent driving, speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicle roadworthiness.
“Motorists are urged to exercise caution, obey traffic laws, and remain patient on the roads, especially during peak travel periods.
“The EMPD remains committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and calls on the public to cooperate with law enforcement officials throughout the Easter period,” said Thepa
