Kensington United aims high

Kensington United FC's U/13 team went head-to-head with East Rovers last Saturday.

The teams drew 2-2 when they clashed at the Rhodes Park Sports Grounds during a friendly match.

United’s coach, Aubrey Motshwane, said his team was busy with friendly games in preparation for the league season ahead.

He said the team will be participating in the league for the first time in two years.

“We are returning to the league with a hunger to make our mark. We are practising hard in preparation for the tournaments ahead,” said Motshwane.

On weekends, the U/13 and U/15 teams meet at Rhodes Park and wait for other team to challenge them to a game.

Motshwane pleaded for businesses and residents, willing to help the team with sponsorships, to come forward and help the team.

“The team is in dire need of resources including transport. The team is in dire need of sponsorships from locals. The players all come from families that are not well-to-do and some of them come from as far as Yeoville. We need to transport them to and from games safely,” he said.
