Medals galore for Irish dancers
The dancers are trained by Merryl Hofmeyr and Greg Moss in Edenvale, Rembrandt Park and Bedfordview.
The Shaw-Butler Studio excelled at the 2019 Irish Dancing SA Championships.
Three young ungraded dancers from the studio each received four silver and/or gold awards.
The other dancers, ranging in age from eight-years-old through to 32-years-old, won a total of 52 medals and placings.
The dancers also accumulated three trophies in the categories from beginners (Bunghrad) to open (Meanghrad) level.
Elwyn Jones won the South African Bunghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) over 13-years-old.
Liza Githembe placed second in the same category and Victoria Ntsekhe finished in fourth.
Cuinn Calcutt won the South African Tusghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) in the category 13 and over.
Caitlin Freeman and Liza Githembe tied in fourth place in the same category.
Layla Johnson won the South African Advanced Tusghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) in the age category 12 to 13.
Anastacia Meyer achieved second place in the Bunghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) for the age category 10 to 11.
Micaella Freeman came in second place in the Bunghrad Priomh Comortas (Softshoe only) for the age category 12 years and older.
Fellow dancer Gizelle Weideman finished in third place in the same category.
Claire Thompson finished in the seventh place in the Tusghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) for the age 10 and 11-year-old age category.
Kirstyn Walker placed fourth overall in Meanghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) for the age category 12 years and under.
Kaylan Bartlett placed fifth overall in Meanghrad Priomh Comortas (Hardshoe and Softshoe) in the age category 15 years and over.
