Give a nip and tuck the slip! Try face yoga instead

The Garlands learned about the benefits of exercising their faces to fight the signs of aging.

Eager chatter and roaring laughter filled the Katse Room at Ebotse on April 25 as members of the Garland Ladies Luncheon Club settled in for their monthly get-together.

With their glasses charged and meals served, the Garlands listened with keen interest as Debbie Moore of Rampage Modelling Agency, with the help of Debbie Stewart, demonstrated various ‘face yoga’ exercises.

If done regularly, these exercises can help turn back the clock of ageing.

Moore explained that skincare regimes should evolve with each passing decade of your life.

“We grow into every stage of our lives and the skincare regimes you incorporate today, will ultimately affect how you will look and feel during the next,” she said.”

Despite its name, face yoga does not require any specialised equipment and outfits.

“It is quick, easy and can be done in the comfort of your own home while wearing leggings for leisure. However, when done consistently the effects will leave you looking radiant and confident.”

Pulling her hair into a ponytail with the determination of a woman ready to change the world, Moore said effective face yoga is not reliant on expensive serums or creams but an investment in a good quality tissue or coconut oil is essential in ensuring that your skin is not stretched during the process.

“Face yoga focuses on gently draining the lymph nodes located on your face, neck and bust. Sagging skin, deep set wrinkles and drooping of the mouth can be reversed by simply prompting the release of toxins and accumulated acids from the lymph nodes.

“This in turn is beneficial for the body’s optimal functioning, destresses and oxygenates the skin.”

Gently massaging her skin in upward motions, Moore said this concentrated form of yoga is not merely about blotting oil on your skin; one needs to understand the composition of your face.

“You need to understand the various facial muscles as well as the location of the lymph nodes to stimulate each in the correct direction. Changes in your skin and facial features will give you an insight into what is happening in your body.”

In closing, Stewart said that reversing the signs of ageing and diving into the pool of self-care also starts with quality hydration.

“There are numerous products on the market claiming to hydrate and rejuvenate your skin, but hydration starts from the inside with emphasis being on quality.

“Hydration is about more than just consuming fluids. Ensure that what you are drinking is feeding your body.”

The Garlands will meet again on May 23, with member Rita Sprenzel sharing her journey to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro last year.

Members as well as guests are welcome.
