Eastlands readies to take in the young at heart
The first units at Eastlands Mature Lifestyle Estate have been completed and there are two furnished show houses ready for the public to view.
The estate was open for public viewing on November 12 and 13.
Visitors were able to take a tour of the two fully-furnished houses as examples of what Eastlands offers.
According to Eastlands sales representative Zendi Dormehl, the estate is meant for people who “have earned their stripes in life, their kids have left home, but they want to maintain their lifestyle”.
The estate is open to people over 50, or couples where one person is over 50.
People can rent or buy on the estate.
“We have comprehensive facilities and cater for the young at heart,” Dormehl said.
She listed the facilities which will be available at the estate:
• State-of-the-art high security
• Frail care
• Assisted living
• Doctors, a pharmacy and a clinic
• Cigar lounge
• Indoor heated pool
• Library
• Gym
• Hairdresser and beauty centre
• Restaurant and shop with delicatessen
• Croquet and bowls.

Regarding the frail care, Dormehl said: “We don’t want to split up couples if one needs frail care, so we have Eden Care, a programme which offers frail care in the home as far and for as long as possible.
“Because people here will mostly be a younger crowd, they will still be active.
“With this idea in mind, we will have mechanical and carpentry workshops, as well as an arts and crafts studio.
“There will also be five acres dedicated to vegetable gardens, where residents can own a piece to grow their own vegetables.”
She added that the estate is pet-friendly and there are no life rights, meaning whatever land people buy in the estate, will not be returned to the estate upon death, but can be inherited by family or friends.
The estate’s show houses will be open to viewing again on November 19 and 20.
Eastlands is situated at 101 Eastlands Drive, just off Ninth Road, in Bredell.
