Clothes donated to home
A Crystal Park resident recently donated baby clothes to the U Mephi place of safety, in Northmead.
“I would like to thank the resident for donating these clothes to us, as they will really come in handy,” said the house mother, Stienie Oberholzer.
The place of safety was initially established in 2003 and currently accommodates eight children, who are between the ages of four months and two years.
According to Oberholzer, U Mephi is not a permanent home for the children; it is a place where infants are placed while waiting to be adopted.
The home can house up to 12 children under the age of two.
“Instead of throwing children into the veld or dustbins, leave them with Child Welfare or at local police stations, so they can be placed in homes like these,” she said.
For more information, contact Oberholzer on 082 469 7524.
