Benoni Van Ryn Rotary Ann’s donate

The Benoni Van Ryn Rotary Anns heeded LifeLine Ekurhuleni’s call and donated several snack packs, juices, colouring books and crayons for children who are going to testify in court.

LifeLine’s Intermediary Project focuses on protecting child victims of abuse and assisting the disabled to testify in court.

The organisation trains personnel to take on the role of intermediaries under such circumstances, and they caringly guide vulnerable witnesses through their testimonies with a view to preventing secondary trauma and eliciting clear testimony, to ensure conviction of perpetrators of child abuse.

Intermediaries do not only provide support during court proceedings, but they also follow up post trial, to ensure children and families are accessing counselling services and that difficulties are being appropriately addressed.

These services include support groups for parents of child victims of sexual abuse.

“The assistance and awareness that the Rotary Anns have brought to the organisation will go a long way to ensuring that we can continue to provide our valuable services with a view to putting offenders behind bars,” concluded Megan Briedé
