Cold front warning
Members of the Ekurhuleni disaster and emergency management services are on high alert, following the warning of a cold front, expected on Thursday, August 8, by the South African Weather Services.

The cold front is expected to be accompanied by windy conditions, which would make fires, especially in informal settlements and in open grassland areas, difficult to control.
The cold conditions, with the likelihood of light showers, are expected to continue until Friday, August 9.
“Our various teams, including the disaster management centre, the emergency services and other critical council departments remain on high alert to respond to life and non-life threatening situations on Thursday and Friday,” Anthony Kesten, disaster management services spokesperson, said.
Keston added that residents should dress warmly and be very careful to keep open flames away from flammable materials.
Residents are further encouraged to follow weather forecasts regularly on television and radio and to avoid unreliable sources of information.
