Meet your winning bride of May

Pamentha Govender, from Rynfield, earned the most votes during the May campaign for the Benoni City Times and Brentwood Pick n Pay Bride of the Year competition.

She became Mrs. Kadathal on May 11, when she married Sumeer Kadathal.

She answered a few questions compiled by the City Times:

1. How would you describe your wedding day?

“My wedding day actually exceeded my expectations, except for the weather; it rained all day and the streets literally flooded, but I believe that was the blessings of God over our marriage.”

2. What is your favourite thing about your husband?

“He is an amazing cook!”

3. How do you feel about your family-in-law?

“They are amazing in-laws, who have supported us throughout the wedding arrangements and continue to love and support me.”

4. What part do you still need to get used to about being married?

“I am still getting used to being called “Mrs Kadathal” by business associates and colleagues.”

5. What was your biggest fear for something to go wrong on your big day?

“My husband had to travel 95km to the wedding venue, so I was a bit concerned that he would be late, but it turned out that he got there before me.”

6. What advice can you give to other brides to prepare for their big day?

“Enjoy every moment! It goes by way too fast. Accept a bit of stress and anxiety as part of the package. Always have a to-do list and update it as you go along.”

7. How are you experiencing being a wife?

“I am thoroughly enjoying it; it has its challenges, but overall I love it.”

8. How do you and your husband spend quality time with one another?

“We go to the movies, shopping and have picnics at the dam.”

9. What is your favourite memory of your wedding day?

“I have two favourites actually: first, I remember walking down the aisle, looking at my husband to-be and seeing him unable to control his tears – it was a spine-tingling moment. The second was taking our vows – a very special moment.”

10. What are your and your husband’s occupations?

“My occupation is HR manager at KIA Motors South Africa, and my husband’s occupation is technical analyst at Hyundai Motors South Africa.”

11. What is your life goal as a couple?

“To create a comfortable and elaborate lifestyle for us and our kids, yet to be born, to instil religious beliefs in them and to continue to serve God as a couple.”
