They appeared in the Benoni Magistrates Court on August 13, in a renewed bail application.
Magistrate Sam Makamu granted each of them R5 000 bail, after agreeing that circumstances which led to them to them being denied bail in the past have changed.
The prosecution previously argued that the nine would interfere with the investigation and threaten witnesses if granted bail, and that their lives were in danger due to the anger in the community at the time.
Their bail conditions included that they stay at their furnished addresses, they are not allowed in Daveyton or to contact witnesses and that they need permission before travelling outside of Gauteng.
The investigations into this case have been completed and the officers’ trial is set to start in the Delmas High Court on November 11.
The cops have been in custody since early March.
Macia died in police custody after he was handcuffed to a police van and dragged several metres.
