Five-star service at Vanilla Bean
If you love feeling at home and being served with a smile, the Vanilla Bean coffee shop, on the corner of O’Reilly Merry Street and Seventh Avenue, is the place to be.
I spent a peaceful Sunday afternoon having brunch at the coffee shop with my friend, Olga Madia.
The Vanilla Bean has been open for approximately three months, and is co-owned by Kathy Sheehan and Karyn Kirkup.
We were served by a friendly waitress, named Precious Mike.
I ordered a beef burger, served with chips and a light green salad on the side.
The patty was cooked perfectly; it was succulent and seasoned to perfection.
Olga helped herself to a chicken and mayo tramezzini, also served with chips and a light green salad.
“The food is light but very filling,” she said.
She washed down her food with a freshly squeezed fruit cocktail juice; I opted for a hot chocolate served with a chocolate Flake, because it was a little cold outside.
Vanilla Bean has a wide range of cakes.

For dessert I had a mouthwatering slice of chocolate mousse cake with ice cream, while Olga ordered a slice of red velvet cake.
“The cake was fresh; it tasted heavenly and the best part is that they were generous with the size of the slice,” added Olga.
The coffee shop is also big on presentation; they serve all their food, from the breakfasts to desserts, in a creative manner.
Vanilla Bean has its own chef and a convention centre that can be booked for private events.
The environment is lovely and the owners and waitresses make you feel at home by sharing jokes and making conversation with the customers.
It’s open from Tuesday till Sunday. TM
