Indoor play area at Mike’s Kitchen

In addition to revamping its logo, Mike's Kitchen Rynfield now has a fully equipped indoor and outdoor children's play area.

Parents wishing to enjoy their delicious meal at Mike’s Kitchen can now do so peacefully, while their kids play in an exciting area.

The indoor area is furnished with soft rubber flooring and consists of several high quality pieces of equipment, including a trampoline, and provides a safe and secure, stimulating environment, with play zones for babies, toddlers and juniors.

There is also a children’s soccer table and a pool table for adults.

This development has, however, not in any way compromised the mouthwatering dishes for which this place is famous.

I say so because I enjoyed lunch there with a friend on Sunday, August 18.

I’m fond of Mike’s Avo, Brie and Pepper Sauce Rump, and I settled for a medium cooked 300g served with chips.

As usual it was succulent and beautifully flavoured.

My friend enjoyed Chicken Medallions: medallions of chicken, pan-grilled in a creamy mushroom and wine sauce, served with grilled black mushrooms, with a hint of garlic.

My friend said it was delicious, rich and creamy, and he would recommend that anyone try it.

For dessert, we both had a peppermint crisp caramel ice cream, a delightful combination of vanilla ice cream, with a smothering of caramel and crunchy peppermint crisp topping.

The establishment, situated at the Rynfield Terrace, at the intersection of Vlei and Pretoria roads, is undoubtedly showing progress under the supervision of new owner Dave Lange, who took over in the beginning of September, last year.

The Salad Bar section still runs a pensioner special every Wednesday and Sunday, which includes a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Other specials run from Mondays to Thursdays and include Epic Eisbein, Prawns (black tigers), sea food platter, T-bone and rump. MM
