Tribal authority gets pensioner a house
An 85-year-old Etwatwa woman will soon have a house of her own after the intervention of the Daveyton-based tribal authority.
The Marota-A-Makgane Urban Tribal and Authority Royal Council has for long been fighting battles for underprivileged people, and also intervening in cases involving community members.
The 85-year-old Elizabeth Motau lives in a shack with her disabled 17-year-old grandchild.
“She has been living in a shack, which is not in good condition for 20 years,” said council chairman Rev David Nkune.
The council engaged a local councillor who promised that a house will be built for the family before the end of this year.
Nkune said the above case was was of the many cases the council was involved in this year.
The tribal authority also managed to recover a vehicle for Zweli Majola, whose car was confiscated by his neighbour.
The chairman said he volunteerd his time and went to Mpumalanga to trace the car.
Luckily the car was found and the suspect arrested, said Nkune.
He thanked his committee members for their dedication, and also the provincial office of the MEC and the Daveyton Magistrates Court for their corporation.
Nkune encouraged the community to utilise the council for any problems they might have.
