Theft of taps and copper in Western Extension

The Sector Five CPF has been made aware of many occurrences of theft from property of garden taps and copper pipes.

Thieves also break into unoccupied houses and break pipes out of the walls, and take showerheads and towel rails.

The pipes are simply broken off and the water left to run.

The CPF said this is reportedly happening on almost a daily basis with one property in Newlands Avenue recently being hit three days in a row between 4am and 4.30am.

The CPF said that the SAPS is unaware of the severity of this problem as these incidents are not being reported.

“In order for SAPS to divert resources to such problems they have to be made aware that the problem exists,” said the CPF.

Witnesses have said the suspects are three males.

“They are young and able to access houses through small cottage pane windows.”

If you have previously experienced the above please email the Sector Five CPF on cpfsectorfive@gmail.com with places, dates, times and descriptions.

Please also alert them should this happen to you in the future, but only after you have reported it to the police.
