New, loving home for Max

The dog which was left abandoned for three weeks, at a property in Western Extension, has been relocated to a new, loving home.

Max, a five-year-old Labrador, was moved to a home in Benoni, which has a big yard and children, on September 20.

The City Times reported on the dog’s abandonment on September 13, listing steps taken by the dog’s neighbour, Cliff Williams.

Williams fed and gave the dog water for three weeks after Max’s owners left him alone on the property.

Just before he was re-homed, Williams visited the SPCA where Max ran up to him and stuck his paw through the fence.

”I am very pleased that he has been taken somewhere where he will be appreciated,” said Williams.

”They are very special dogs those.”

Senior inspector at the Benoni SPCA Annalise Jungmann said the re-homing will be a success because Max is a sociable dog.

People who would like to adopt dogs from the SPCA have to fill in an application form at the kennels, where after their premises will be inspected to determine if this in line with the dog’s needs.

Thereafter a legal document must be signed and an adoption fee needs to be paid.

The dog will then be sterilised and de-wormed.
