Water pressure concerns mount

DA Water and Energy Oversight Committee spokesperson Bruna Haipel has requested a written report on the reasons and steps to be taken to resolve the weak water pressure experienced in parts of Benoni.

Haipel submitted questions to Ekurhuleni’s HOD for water and sanitation, Phil Mashokoon, on September 18, and is awaiting the response.

She outlined water pressure concerns in Brentwood Park, and other parts of Ekurhuleni.

The City Times has, in the past few weeks, learnt of water pressure problems in Fairleads, Northmead, Morehill, Rynfield and Mackenzie Park.

Residents affected by weak water pressure have apparently been unable to perform more than one task which involves using water.

Haipel said the weak pressure could be attributed to failing water infrastructure.

She said in some instances water pressure is regulated in order to prevent ailing pipes from bursting or leaking.

The City Times is awaiting answers to questions which were submitted to Ekurhuleni on September 18, about the weak water pressure in parts of Benoni.
