Police operation yields arrests

The Benoni police cluster, with the help of the metro and railway police, embarked on a special operation in the Crystal Park Police Station precinct on Thursday, September 26.

The operation led to seven spaza shops being closed down – expired food was confiscated and fines were issued to owners trading without licences.

Three illegal shebeens and a liquor outlet were also closed closed down, with police confiscating the liquor.

Police also arrested two people for being in possession of dagga.

Crystal Park SAPS station commander Lieut Col Belinda Motaung thanked the law enforcement officials involved in the operation.

‘‘The operation was a huge successes, and the community must know that more of these operations will take place during the festive season, as the Crystal Park police have a zero tolerance approach for the coming festive period,’’ she said.
