Orchestra wows audience
The East Rand Youth Orchestra soothed a number of Benoni residents with its music, at a concert it hosted on October 13, at the Matthew Goniwe Centre, in Elston. Avenue.
The orchestra played music from the movie Schindler’s List, the opera Rigoletto, music by Handel and a few modern classical pieces.
The orchestra was founded in 1978 and celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
Pienaar Fourie, the conductor, has been with the orchestra since its inception.
The orchestra currently has 54 members, who are between the ages of nine and 24 years.
