Another special day for pugs
Man and his best friend turned up in support of the annual Pug Invasion Yappy Fund-raiser, at Pug Rescue SA, on Saturday, October 19.
The event, which took place at the centre’s head-quarters in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings, is Pug Rescue’s biggest fund-raiser of the year.
Hundreds of dogs turned up and enjoyed a day dedicated to them.
Dog owners and their four-legged animals were not shy to utilise the small swimming pools to beat the hot summer’s day.
There was food and drink available and enough dogs to keep all dog owners busy.
The day’s proceeds will go towards the centre’s 95 dogs, of which 85 per cent are pugs.
The centre is in the process of building a retirement centre for the older dogs, which will house between 40 to 50 dogs.
The founder of the centre, Malcolm Gaw, said the centre is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm.
He urged people to volunteer their time to the centre and to offer companionship to the animals.
