Toy Run 2013
All roads lead to John Barrable Hall on November 24, for the 30th annual Motorcycle Toy Run.
For 31 years the biking fraternity has been gathering toys to donate to less fortunate children around the country.
This year things will be no different: the entrance fee is still a donation of toys for less privileged children.
Gift shops at the entrances will sell Toy Run recommended gifts, if you forget your gift donation.
Already confirmed for the day are two popular bands and well over 80 stalls and food vendors.
“The event does create a lot of traffic congestion, ranging from road closures to manned intersections for traffic flow control,” said organising committee chairman Graeme Cartwright.
“In the interests of motorcyclist road safety, we have the local Metro Police involved, as well as over 200 volunteers who will help to redirect traffic flow.”
The following traffic measures will be in effect from 8am until about 2pm on the day.
The roads that will be severely impacted by road closures or traffic are:
- Atlas Road – near R21 (high motorcycle traffic and pointsmen)
- Great North Road (high motorcycle traffic and pointsmen)
- Hospital Road (closure to cars plus high motorcycle traffic and pointsmen))
- Aerodrome Road (closure onto Hospital Road)
- Aster Street (closure onto Hospital Road)
- Angelier Street (closure onto Hanekam Street)
- Sonneblom Street (closure onto Hospital Road)
