Tents of Sharon hosts party for pensioners

Tents of Sharon held its annual Christmas party for the aged at St Dunstan’s Cathedral, on November 7.

Approximately 200 pensioners from various homes came together for a feast and a party, where they were also given gifts.

Benoni resident and artist JJ Stephens performed a number of songs from the ’50s and ’60s for the pensioners.

“I chose to perform these up-tempo songs because most of them listened to this kind of music during their youth, and I hope it will help them forget about their problems, even if it’s for an hour,” said Stephens.

“On behalf of the Tents of Sharon I would like to thank JJ for performing and supporting us every year, and our sponsors, Martin Büser and Andrew Marx,” said Annatjie Fourie, of the organisation.
