Booyzen notches up nine distinctions

St Dunstan’s pupil, Tyrone Booyzen, obtained nine distinctions during the 2013 Independent Examination Board (IEB) exams.

Booyzen obtained distinctions for accounting, business studies, mathematics, mathematics paper three (probability, data handling and geometry), advanced programme mathematics, English home language, information technology and life orientation.

“Making my own study notes and revising from them instead of using the text book is my recipe to success,” said Booyzen.

He added that he was actually aiming to get 10 distinctions out of the 11 subjects he was doing during matric.

Booyzen did not participate in any cultural or sporting activities.

He was however head of Information Technology at the school.

Booyzen headed up the school’s Ipad Pilot Project that raises funds and purchases Ipads for the pupils.

This year he will study towards a Bcom qualification and major in business studies at the University of Pretoria.

In the next five years he aims to move abroad and complete his studies in California.
