God helped Spencer to absorb information

Darren Spencer achieved a string of distinctions in the 2013 National Senior Certificate examinations, despite not studying for parts of Fridays and Saturdays.

“God has blessed me throughout my school life,” said Spencer.

“I am a Christian, a Seventh-Day Adventist, so I do not study on Friday nights or during the day on Saturdays.

“I think God helped me to absorb more information during the times that I was studying.”

The Benoni High School pupil scored As in English home language, Afrikaans first additional language, life orientation, mathematics, maths paper three, business studies, geography and physical sciences.

The youngster said he found the final exams to be of a similar standard to the tests and exams set by the school.

He said listening in class and reading through his work several days before the exam was key in achieving the sterling results.

Spencer also participated in rugby, cricket, soccer and athletics, did drama technical work for the school and also played indoor soccer and Action cricket.

He will study towards a BCom financial sciences degree at the University of Pretoria this year.
