Haven Care Centre needs help

The Haven Care Centre, at 156 Oak Street, Benoni Agricultural Holdings, is urgently asking Benoni residents for help in raising funds.

The home is trying to raise about R52 000, to try to repair the centre’s two vehicles.

“We currently have only a Nissan 1400 bakkie and a Combi that constantly give us hassles and cost the centre a small fortune to repair,” said Pem Morgan, Haven Care Centre co-founder.

“Our centre is growing at a rapid pace and, in order for us to run effectively and address the needs of the people in our care, we need vehicles that are in working order.”

Morgan added that the organisation would also welcome the donation of a secondhand motor vehicle.

The centre needs a reliable vehicle for the following tasks:

– collection of donations for the centre;

– collection of food items donated to the centre;

– taking children to and from school on a daily basis;

– taking the babies to and from nursery school;

– taking the elderly to and from hospitals/clinics;

– taking those with pensions to and from Sassa,

– collection of clothing donations,

– transportation of people to and from work.

The centre currently looks after 30 adults and 19 children.
