Perfect eyebrows, permanently
Love having perfect defined features, but dislike having to apply thick amounts of make-up every morning? If you're nodding your head right now, the following is totally worth having a look at.
The City Times made a turn at Beauty Essence, at 63 Hartshorne Avenue, in Rynfield, where owner and therapist René Viljoen performed her favourite treatment on a client.
Petit resident Belinda Blignaut went for a permanent make-up application on her eyebrows and came out looking fabulous.
After sterilising Belinda’s face with alcohol wipes, René applied Emla to her eyebrows. This is an anaesthetic that must be applied approximately half an hour before the treatment commences.
After making the permanent make-up mixture of black and a drop of grey, it was time for René to work her magic.
Using an epidermal permanent make-up hand-held device, she coloured in the shape that Belinda drew over her eyebrows prior to the anaesthetic application.
With this device a hollow needle releases the colour into a hole in the skin, basically applying pigment to the top layer
of skin — it is essentially like getting a tattoo.
The device has a five-pronged, disposable needle, and a new, sterile one is used with each treatment performed.
René explained that the type of needle used determines the width of the line.
She had Belinda check in the mirror every so often, assuring that she was satisfied with the progress.
“I will keep going until the client is satisfied with the shape,” she said.
“You must always colour in to a pre-drawn line — with permanent make-up on the lips, too.”
René said if the application is properly applied, permanent make-up will last for between five and eight years.
This is without discolouring or changing shape within the skin.
Imagine waking up beautiful every morning and not having to apply make-up for five years!
Any desired colour can be achieved by mixing a combination of colours.
People can undergo a permanent make-up treatment for their eyebrows, to replace non-existent eyebrows due to over plucking or radiation therapy, to thicken thinned eyebrows, or just to give a new shape.
René said it is important to go back for a touch-up after 21 days to three months after the first application.
“If not, you’ll basically have to do the whole process over again,” she explained.
Belinda said she was very happy with the treatment.
“It was a nice experience and it wasn’t sore at all,” she added.
“I would recommend the treatment to anyone — you can change the shape of your eyebrows and it’s little effort from here on.”
René gave the assurance that the treatment is totally safe and said the chances of developing any type of communicable disease is virtually impossible, due to the sterilisation procedures on instruments and the sanitary environment.
After the treatment, no water should be applied to the area of application for three to four days.
She also advised that Bactroban ointment to be applied to the area as soon as the client gets home, as bruising might occur.
I especially admired René’s patience and attention to detail as she carefully applied the make-up, expressing her passion for this art.
Beauty Essence also offers a range of other beauty treatments to suit every need.TB
