This week the BCT takes you back 40 years to the Friday, March 29, 1974, edition.

Dave bears no grudge. On this week 40 years ago the Benoni Town Council had rescinded a decision to have popular Benoni Fire Chief, Dave Fingleson, prematurely retired. The Fire Chief told the BCT at the time that he was elated to be given more time to do the job that he loved.

Holtzhausen springs to number one. On this week in 1974 it was Benoni Harriers’ 110m hurdler Jan Holtzhausen who was the BCT’s sports star of the week after he won his event in the Southern Transvaal championship held at RAU.
