Update on Farrarmere road closure

On March 25, one month after the last public meeting, Farrarmere residents gathered at Belvedere School to discuses the proposed road closure.

Farrarmere resident and Manny’s Timber and Hardware managing director Manny Ferreirinha, addressed the public and showed them the proposed closure.

He also went through the proposal again and indicated which streets will be closed off permanently; which will be open during the day and closed off at night, and where the access controlled booms will be.

“We have received a number of queries regarding the road closure, most of them being about where the individuals live and how they will be affected by it,” said Ferreirinha.

He addressed some of the questions that were sent to him via email.

A total of R157 548 is needed for the traffic impact study to be conducted, and each household needs to contribute R100.

A bank account for the community of Farrarmere has been opened.

Each household in Farrarmere is required to deposit R100 towards the traffic impact study.

Members of the public are to use their home address as a reference.

Ferreirinha added that those who would like to have the money debited from their CMS accounts need to have that stated in writing, before the amount can be debited.

“There are currently 27 entrances and exits into Farrarmere; after the closure there will be seven at night and a few more during the day,” he concluded.
