Perfecting the art of calligraphy
On Thursday, March 27, the creative skills of local women were tickled once again, when Hearts and Hands hosted its monthly workshop, themed "a Touch of Handwriting", at the Craft Café, in Rynfield.
The workshop started with a talk about what your handwriting tells you about yourself, by local graphologist Thea Bylefeldt.
An expert in calligraphy, Estelle Conradie, from Pretoria, spoke about aspects of writing and had everyone participating in the fun.
The Hearts and Hands workshops were co-initiated by Lundi Verity, with a friend, Dagmar Nutt, five years ago.
Lundi is now arranging the workshops on her own, after Dagmar moved to Cape Town.
“I couldn’t stop,” said the passionate woman.
“I always say ‘it’s a touch of inspiration workshops’.
“A lot of women have used what they have learned to start businesses and new hobbies.”
Lundi said some of the workshops are also attended by men.
She aims to provide people with a platform to update their creative skills, while having fun.
“I have made so many great friends here,” she added.
The workshops are held on the last Thursday of each month, at different coffee shops, and a different crafting skill is taught each time.
