Rashid Samsoodeen, who lives on Prem Crescent, in Actonville, has been struggling with illegal dumping in the veld right opposite his property for about two months.
He said the dumping has not only brought in rats, but is causing a stench and poses grave health and environmental risks.
Samsoodeen said people from Actonville and Wattville continue to dump in the area, despite there being a dump site down the road.
Ekurhuleni acting spokesperson Lebogang Ramashala said, on April 8, that the metro would clear the garbage by the end of Friday.
”The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Waste Management Services apologises for the delay in attending to the illegal dumping in Actonville, which was due to technical difficulties with equipment and other resources,” said Ramashala.
At the time of going to press the site had not been cleared.
