Hit-and-run leaves woman with critical injuries

According to Werner Vermaak, ER24 communications manager, she had sustained critical injuries.

“Bystanders explained that they had pulled her from the middle of the road after the accident,” said Vermaak.

“Paramedics found that she had sustained critical injuries to her head, she was treated on scene and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.”

The driver of the vehicle allegedly did not stop after the accident.

“It is understood that the vehicle collided with her when she tried to cross the road,” said Vermaak.

“Some of the bystanders explained that the vehicle immediately sped off after colliding with her.”

The incident was handed over to the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department for investigation.
