Police discovered five bodies bearing bullet wounds, believed to be of illegal miners, at the Benoni Gold Mine, on Saturday June 21.
Police spokesperson Capt Mack Mngomezulu said the unidentified men were killed execution style.
“All had gun wounds to their heads,” said Mngomezulu.
Mngomezulu said the killings are related to illegal mining.
The bodies were noticed by quad bikers early in the morning,who informed the mine security.
One of the deceased men was found with his hands tied behind his back.
Mngomezulu added that several spent cartridges were found on the scene.
No arrests have been made and police are investigating.
