Davies hits the dance floor
From motorbike racer to Strictly Come Dancing contestant
Brentwood Park motocross champion Janine Davies (25) is temporarily replacing her racing boots with her dancing shoes.
She has been selected as one of the contestants for the Strictly Come Dancing show.
Born in Cape Town, Davies moved to Benoni when she was six months old and has been a local girl ever since.
She started riding motorbikes when she was 14 years old and recently became the first South African woman to compete in a national championship race for 1 000ccs and the first woman to achieve a podium place in the first round of the South African National Super GP Championship.
She is also a model, but has recently developed a love for dancing.
Besides riding bikes and modelling, Davies enjoys baking, cooking and boxing training .
She is considered the underdog of this Strictly Come Dancing competition and someone who keeps to herself, until she hits the dance floor.
Davies’s ultimate goal is to win Strictly Come Dancing and to be the first woman in SA to become champion in the National Super GP series in South Africa.
“I am a very positive person in general and believe that you can achieve anything you put your mind to,” she said.
She draws inspiration from her faith and people who have achieved their goals and dreams in life.
” I don’t have anything specific that inspires me, every day something different inspires me to better myself and stay focused,” she explained.
Benonians can keep their eye on her when the live shows start on SABC 3 on July 18.
They will be broadcast every Friday night, at 8.30pm.
