
Benoni SAPS members were out on routine patrol duties when they received a complaint from radio control about a suspect who was cornered by the security guards.
“Upon arrival, the officers found the suspect in possession of a housebreaking implement,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.
He was arrested and detained by at Benoni SAPS.
Sekele said further investigation revealed that the suspect had previously been arrested in Ivory Park, for possession of suspected stolen goods, and his case is still pending.
“Investigation to check whether the suspect can be linked to other housebreaking cases in the Benoni area is continuing,” said Sekele.
The man is due to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court soon.
