Two injured after truck lands in ditch
A medical helicopter was called to transport a truck driver to hospital after the vehicle he was travelling in landed in a ditch.
The accident occurred on High Road, at 10.30am, on Saturday.
The truck landed in the ditch after making contact with a tree.
When paramedics arrived on scene, they found the driver of the truck, a man in his 60s, and a passenger, a man in his 30s, seated outside the truck.
”The driver was assessed and found to have suffered fractures to his face, and was in a semi-conscious state,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
”While paramedics worked to stabilise the man a medical helicopter was called.”
The driver was flown to the Milpark Hospital.
The passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
Orritt thanked the Farrarmere Fire Station, Benoni CPF and other services for their assistance on scene.
