Artists raise funds for Rotary Club

Plenty of creative offerings by talented locals were seen at the Art Alive art school’s fifth annual exhibition.

This year, the exhibition, which was held from August 27 to 30, was a fund-raiser for the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora, in aid of the charities and projects they support.

Over 500 works created by local artists were displayed at the expo.

The artists also agreed to paint a variety of smaller sized canvasses, which are being sold at a cost of R150 each.

The Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora also raised funds through tickets sold through them.

Together with supporting a great cause, a cosy atmosphere created by bonfires, light jazz music, wine and warm winter food were on offer to the visitors.

Owner of the school Elaine Marx said 57 of the 100 small paintings were sold at the exhibition and the rest will be sold at other Rotary events.

The school also sold 80 bigger paintings and five handmade knives by Marx knives.

The amount of money raised by the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora is still being calculated.
