Local business raises money for Might Wings

In celebration of their first birthday, T&Co Professional Hair Design decided to raise funds for the Mighty Wings Life Centre.

The fund-raiser, held at T&Co’s Pretoria Road premises, on August 20, realised R8 000 for the non-profit drug recovery support organisation.

The salon raised the money by cutting men and women’s hair and the sale of raffle tickets.

The event was attended by about 40 clients and supported by volunteer staff.

“There were many volunteers who assisted at the event, from novice shampooists to members currently in the Mighty Wings Life Centre programme,” said T&Co’s owner, Theresa Bester.

“I think everyone knows someone who has had a friend or family member involved with harmful drugs and can relate to the cause.

“The attitude of creating awareness was reflected in the positive ambience of the evening, with families coming in groups, children looking out for each other, hairstylists helping each other when it got hectic and support groups talking about their experiences and uplifting each other.”

Kennith de Kock, Might Wings Life Centre director, was thrilled at the donation.

“I commend them for their hard work and dedication to our cause,” he said.

Might Wings currently has two branches: one in Benoni and one in Randburg, with a third soon to be rolled out in Pretoria.
