A ‘pint for a pint’ draws blood donors
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS), with the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora, proficiently collected 92 units of blood at their "pint for a pint" blood drive on Saturday, October 4.
For every pint people donated they receives a free beer, courtesy of SAB.
The Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora, their Anns and Rotaracters helped gather members of the public with an aim to collect 80 units of blood on the day, held at the Northmead Square.
They were pleased to exceed their target.
SANBS Benoni branch public relations practitioner Terrance Pillay said the school holidays is a challenging time for the SANBS.”About 30 per cent of our donations comes from tertiary education students, which we do not receive when they go away on holiday,” he said.
Members of the community are encouraged to donate blood during this time.
