Few strays collected by the SPCA during Deepavali
Not many incidents of traumatised animals, due to fireworks being lit, were reported to the Benoni SPCA over Deepavali, which was celebrated last night, Thursday, October 23.

Benoni SPCA inspector Renee Rossolimos said four stray dogs were brought in by the SPCA.
The setting off of fireworks was delayed by the weather and could only proceed late in the evening.
Rossolimos said two of the owners of the four strays came in to collect their pets already.
She added that they usually find most strays wandering in the streets only the following day.
The celebrations might continue over the weekend.
Members of the public must take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of their animals, while those wishing to set off fireworks must adhere to the by-laws pertaining to this action.
