Five arrested for Brentwood Park house robbery
Five people were arrested for house robbery at a home at Road No 5, in Brentwood Park, yesterday.
The Benoni SAPS arrived at the house at around 9.45am and saw several people running away from the property to a nearby informal settlement.
Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said police made their way to the informal settlement where they found five suspects in different shacks, in possession of suspected stolen property, including a firearm which was reported stolen in September.
Sekele said the suspects entered the home and pointed a firearm at the domestic worker before tying her hands and feet with shoe laces.
While the intruders were robbing the house the home owner returned – and was also tied up.
Jewellery, laptops, computer speakers, a DVD player and cellphones were stolen from the house.
The suspects were charged with possession of stolen property and possession of an unlicensed firearm, and are being detained at the Benoni Police Station.
They will appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Monday.
