Jaws of Life used to free Northmead accident victim
The Jaws of Life were used to free the occupant of a vehicle that was involved in an accident, on Sunday, on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Fourth Street, Northmead.
“The driver and only occupant of the golf was found entrapped in the vehicle,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
“Paramedics assessed the man, believed to be in his 60s, and although he was conscious, he had suffered a suspected pelvic fracture and internal injuries.
“Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment was used to free the man, who was transported to hospital by ambulance, in a serious condition.”
The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured, while his passenger sustained moderate injuries.
The female passenger was transported to hospital.
Orritt thanked fire services, the Benoni CPF and other medical services for their assistance on scene.
