Wedding between 80 year olds postponed due to illness

Eric Guest (84) will have to wait a little longer before he weds his partner, Patricia Allan (80), who he believes is the best thing since sliced bread.

“The lovebirds”, as they have become known at the Methodist Homes for the Aged, will have to postpone their wedding this Saturday because Eric was admitted to hospital with a kidney infection.

The wedding would have been held at the Northfield Methodist Church.

Eric’s daughter, Elaine Macdonald, said her father will be informed of the postponement this afternoon at the Olivedale Clinic in Randburg.

“He doesn’t want this woman to go,” said Elaine.

She said her father will not let her postpone the wedding again and that he is adamant to marry his partner as soon as possible.

Elaine said her dad adores Patricia, who he regards as the best and most beautiful woman ever.

The daughter said her father, who has been married three times before, is a romantic.

Eric buys Patricia a lot of gifts, including chocolate, which has resulted in Patricia gaining weight.

To Patricia’s amusement, Eric in turn purchased her a scale to weigh herself.

Elaine said both families are very supportive of the marriage.

She said Patricia has been good to her father and is always there for him.

“When he loses a sock or bends down and can’t find his teeth, she is there,” said the daughter.

The couple will still live in separate units after the wedding because, according to Eric, “it’s more fun that way”.
