Kate is the November Domestic Worker of the Month
Because they believe that domestic workers are the unsung heroines in our country, Hirsch’s Boksburg is hosting a Domestic Worker of the Month competition.
Nombuyiselo Kate Ndungwana is the winner for November.
Her employer, Kimberley Bennett, of Farrarmere, earned the prize for her with the motivation she wrote.
Each month, until January, counts as a round, after which the grand finale will follow.
Employers can enter their domestic workers for December’s competition by sending a 100-word motivation on why they deserve to win to Brigitte Thysse, via email at brigitte@hirschs.co.za.
The monthly winners will each receive a R500 Hirsch’s voucher, a hamper from Unilever and a Hirsch’s certificate.
They will also go through to the final round, in which they stand a chance to win a prize worth R5 000 and a bed and base set.
Entries for this month will close on December 5.
Bennett’s full motivation for Kate to win reads:
My family and I moved to South Africa from England 9 years ago. Katie, our domestic worker, has been working for us for 8 years. To be very honest, we CANNOT live without Katie. Not only is she an extremely hard worker but she is also the best friend that anyone could want. My whole family (including relatives and friends who live in Australia!) love her to bits and our dogs adore her too.
Katie is so clever and if she sees something that needs to be done or something that is wrong then she takes the initiative and solves it. Katie does everything (without us even asking her to) from washing the windows to planting plants in the garden and even cooking.
Katie is the kindest and friendliest person you will ever meet. She has such a good heart. We trust her with our lives and vice versa. You can talk to her about anything. Just to put the cherry on the top she is also a fantastic mother and wife. She has a wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters all of whom we love. Katie is so open-minded and she never gives up on wanting to achieve her dreams such as getting her driver’s license and going on a nice holiday. We will always continue to support her in reaching her dreams and help her and her family through these tough times.
Even if Kate doesn’t win this month’s competition, I hope that by doing this she will see just how much we appreciate her and everything she has done for us. She truly is one in a million and I hope that you see that too
Kimberley Bennett
