Be beautified at Beauty on the Square

Define beauty. Is it a harmonious spirit? Is it a desirable appearance?

Many agree that it is the combination of both, and at Beauty on the Square it can be achieved.

The City Times recently paid a visit to the salon to get a feel for this wholesome experience.

I was introduced to three luxurious treatments including reflexology, vein removal and a Babor System gold facial.

Reflexology is a pressure point massage, generally performed on the feet, which has both stress-relief and healthcare benefits.

Beauty therapist Gloria Letageng, said there are reflex points on the feet linked to every part of the body.

Problematic areas can be treated by stimulating the relevant points.

Gloria added that the treatment can even be used to enhance fertility.

Small imbalances in the body can also be detected through this treatment, such as stress and body disfunctions, such as lungs with phlem, IBS etc.

Ultimately the experience is a very pleasant form of relaxation.

For those who aim to achieve blemish-free skin, the vein removal treatment is a winner.

During this treatment, an electric current is injected into the targeted area with a needle probe connected to a TC 3000 device.

Owner of the salon Carina Moss, who has 15 years experience in the beauty industry, said the current coagulates the vein.

Results are permanent and only one treatment is required per vein.

Moss said the treatment does not stop blood circulation and has no known side-effects; however it should be avoided by clients with diabetes, people who are on blood-thinning medication or have copper and nickel allergies.

My biggest thumbs up goes to the facial.

Performed using Babor, a five star German skincare range, beauty therapist Anna Makuwa explained this treatment hydrates and treats the skin with its focal purpose being anti-aging.

The process includes cleansing, exfoliation, extraction toning, specialised serum, moisturising and a mask.

For the cherry on the cake, the luxury facial massage is included in the treatment to put you into an ultimate state of relaxation.

The result is deep-cleansed, silky soft skin and walking out feeling like a million bucks.

Here are a few key skincare tips to achieve perfect porcelain skin, provided by Anna:

  • Have a facial every four to six weeks to insure your skin gets deep-cleansed
  • Maintain your skin at home by cleansing, toning, moisturising daily, exfoliating and masking once or twice a week, with the complimenting professional skincare range.
  • Do not ever sleep with make-up on.
  • When applying eye-gel, work inwards out, to prevent fine lines from forming
  • When applying moisturiser to your neck, work upwards to prevent sagging and create a lifting effect.

A wide range of other treatments are also on offer at Beauty on the Square, including bio sculpture gel nails and skin care, slimming, waxing, therapeutic and cosmetic treatments.

The 16-year-old salon is situated at the Northmead Square.

From being assisted by receptionist Princess Socenywa, to receiving beauty treatments by the friendly therapists, clients can expected to be served timeously, and in a caring manner.

Make sure you enhance your true beauty by treating yourself inside and out.TB
