Maintenance teams still working to restore water

Corrective repairs are being conducted on a 400mm water pipe which has caused parts of Benoni to be left without water since early yesterday morning (January 22).

Water had to be shut off to Brentwood Park, Goedeburg and Benoni Small Farms this afternoon after maintenance staff experienced a snag.

Parts of Farrarmere, Rynfield, Northmead and Brentwood Park were still without water this afternoon.

Ekurhuleni said maintenance teams are working around the clock to restore the water supply.

”The interruption was due to a burst 400mm main water pipe in Great North Road, affecting parts of Benoni,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

”The repairs were completed on Friday, January 23; however leaks were soon observed during the changing of lines.

”Water was again closed off to allow for corrective repairs to be completed.”

Water tankers have been made available at the following points:

1. Coleridge and Genevieve streets, Farrarmere.

2. Webb Street and Hospital Road, Northmead.

3. Goud and Platinum streets, Goedeburg.

4. Oakfields Pick n Pay.
