Central pool renovations are complete
The refurbishments at the Benoni Central Swimming Pool have been concluded.

Residents will, however, have to wait until September 1 before they can take dip in the new pool.
“The main baby pool has been re-tiled, the entire pipe work has been replaced and the entire pipe room has been refurbished,” said Themba Gadebe, Ekurhuleni spokesperson.
The tender for the planting of the grass around the pool is expected to be concluded this month.
Renovations at the Benoni Central Swimming Pool were supposed to be completed in May or June, last year, but renovations were halted until January, this year, because of the rains experienced in March and April.
The Etwatwa/Daveyton swimming pool still remains closed.
“The consultants are in a process of finalising the designs, specifications and bills of quantities for the pool.”
The department has as a priority the repairing of the main pool shell, repair and inclusion of the baby pool circulation system into the main pool system,” said Themba Gadebe.
Other repairs include servicing and replacing the main pumps in the area.
Gadebe said contractors will begin repairs in September.
