Poetry festival aimed at empowering women
Women Scream will host their second poetry festival in Daveyton, on March 21.
This is to honour South African women, and the youth, in Daveyton, through poetry and other visual activities.
The aim of the movement is to raise awareness of non-violence against women and children, using art and poetry to send the message..
On the day, women will be addressed and educated by key guest speakers, on self-care, bursary funding, job creation opportunities and creative industry knowledge, specifically literature.
The event is open to every member of the community who would like to be part of the festival.
It is mainly targeted at women and youth between the ages of 20 and 40.
This, in turn, will contribute to the general empowerment of women as consumers and household decision makers.
The event is held annually in March to mark International Women’s Month.
Women Scream Poetry Festival will take place at Lapeng Village, 30381 Sigalo Street, Daveyton, at 11am till 2pm.
The entrance fee will include lunch and a goodie bag.
