Frans van der Linden, who lives on Hazel Road, Benoni Agricultural Holdings (BAH), said his domestic worker came across his dead dog while en route to work.
She was travelling in a taxi when she spotted the six-year-old male dog, named Tiger, on the corner of Elm and Hazel roads.
According to van der Linden, the dog’s body was found on the side of the road, on the grass embankment, with its intestines hanging out.
Tiger sustained long incisions on his underbody.
Van der Linden suspects that Tiger was “butchered” by a person wielding a knife or panga.
“He (Tiger) used to roam, but he was not aggressive,” said the dog owner.
“So I do not think he was attacking anybody which would mean someone would beat him.”
Van der Linden said he does not believe his dog was run over, but that it was a deliberate act.
He suspects it could be a muti killing.
The dog owner said he would report the matter the the Crystal Park SAPS tonight (March 19).
Earlier this month, Tobie, a four-year-old Jack Russell, was beaten in Daveyton.
