Save A Soul brings winter warmth to Tshipi Noto learners
The donation forms part of Save A Soul's commitment to support 120 underprivileged learners at the school
Tshipi Noto Intermediate School in Daveyton welcomed a boost against the winter cold when community organisation Save a Soul donated 120 beanies and pairs of gloves during a visit to the school, recently.
The organisation’s executive team, led by chief executive officer Macduran Makgabo, visited the school, where they were welcomed by principal Philani Khubeka and teacher Thembisile Matlala.
The donation forms part of Save A Soul’s commitment to support 120 underprivileged learners at the school. While more than 60 learners received hats and gloves during the visit, the remaining items were left with the school to distribute to other learners in need.
The initiative brought smiles to many learners, who will now have extra protection against the cold during their journeys to and from school.
The visit also marked the beginning of a long-term partnership between the organisation and the school.
Save A Soul announced that it will formally adopt Tshipi Noto Intermediate School, allowing it to continue supporting learners through future programmes and initiatives beyond the winter season.
Principal Mr Khubeka thanked the organisation for its generosity and support.
“I am really thankful for what Save a Soul is doing for our children; it makes teaching and learning easier for us and the kids. I appreciate the minds and hands that made this possible and may they continue giving back to the community,” said Khubekha
Deputy CEO and public relations officer Lesetja Mamabolo said the donation was about more than providing winter clothing.
“Today was not just about handing out hats and gloves. It was about showing these children that they are seen, they are loved, and they are not alone. This is only the beginning of our journey with Tshipi Noto Intermediate School, and we are committed to walking this path with them for the long haul,” said Mamabolo.
Also present during the handover were deputy CEO and coordinator Lesetja Mamabolo, secretary Lorna Morudu, additional member Tintswalo Monteza Mathebula, marketing and advertising representative Mbali Mnguni, and treasurer Reshoketswe Mphaphathe.
The organisation hopes the partnership will create lasting opportunities to improve the wellbeing of learners and provide ongoing assistance where it is needed most.
