ATM bombed in Crystal Park

An ATM was bombed last night (March 24) at a Caltex petrol station in Totius Road, Crystal Park.

Shortly before 10pm, four armed men entered the station, held the staff at gunpoint and forced them outside.
“The robbers emptied the cash register of R1 000 and blew up the FNB ATM inside the shop.” said Tryna Maritz, media liaison officer for the Crystal Park SAPS.
“No shots were fired and nobody was hurt, but some of the staff are traumatised by the event.”
The Benoni bomb squad were on scene to decontaminate the area and authorities arrived to investigate.
A case of business robbery and ATM bombing has been opened and the Provincial Task Force has taken over the investigation.
The suspects are still at large.
